Bertha Townsend

Bertha Louise Townsend Toulmin ( born March 7, 1869 in Philadelphia, † May 12 1909 in Haverford ) was an American tennis player.

She won the women's singles at the U.S. Tennis Championships (now the U.S. Open ) in the years 1888 and 1889 In 1889, she also won the women's doubles. . In 1890, she could again be reached the final of the women's singles and women's doubles.

In 1974, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of tennis.
