Berthold Albrecht

Berthold Albrecht ( born August 14, 1954 in Essen, † November 21, 2012 ) was a German manager.

Albrecht was one of two sons of the founder Theo Albrecht Aldi Nord. He stood in front as chairman of the non-resolvable Markus Foundation, which is responsible for the total assets of Aldi Nord. There he cared mainly about the U.S. retail grocery chain Trader Joe's, which is part of the Aldi Nord Group since 1979. According to obituary of the magazine Der Spiegel he otherwise played a minor role in the company. He should have gone to classic car rallies principally his hobby.

Berthold Albrecht was among the richest Germans. In the Forbes list of the year 2012, he is with his brother Theo, Jr. in second place, with an estimated total assets of approximately 17.8 billion U.S. $ behind her uncle Karl Albrecht.

He and his wife Babette Albrecht was the father of five children, including quadruplets born in 1990.
