Berthold VII, Count of Henneberg-Schleusingen

Berthold VII the Wise ( * 1272 in Schleusingen, † April 13, 1340 ibid ) was Count of Henneberg - Schleusingen ( 1284-1340 ), son of Berthold V. and Sophie of Schwarzburg ( 1279 † († 1284? ) (?) ), daughter of Gunther VII of Schwarzburg. Emperor Henry VII confirmed him in 1310 in the rank of prince. Berthold was one of the most influential advisers of the Emperor Louis IV of Bavaria.

He was to 1330 nurse and guardian of Ludwig of Brandenburg, the eldest son of Emperor Louis IV from his first marriage to Beatrix of Silesia - Glogau. This was when Louis V. Duke of Bavaria and as Louis I also Margrave of Brandenburg and Count of Tyrol.
