Bertil Holmlund

Bertil Holmlund ( born February 5, 1947) is a Swedish economist and university professor. He is best known as head of the Committee for the Prize in Economic Sciences the Bank of Sweden in memory of Alfred Nobel. In this role, he gives every year since 2008 the winner is known. The focus of his scientific work lies in the field of labor market and unemployment research.

Career

Holmlund studied at the University of Umea. After he graduated in 1970 at the School with a Bachelor of Arts, he won in 1976 at the University with the dissertation " Arbetslöshet och lönebildning " ( German: unemployment and wage determination) the academic degree of a doctor. In parallel, he was involved from 1972 as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in the University of operation.

From 1976 Holmlund worked at the private Industrial Institute for Economic and Social Research in Stockholm, in 1985 he transferred to the Trade Union Institute for Economic Research. As early as 1984, he worked as an associate professor at the University of Stockholm. In 1987 he accepted a position at the University of Uppsala. During his time in Sweden he participated in several visiting professorships outside the country's borders true and conducted research and teaching at the University of Michigan, University of Southampton, Australian National University and University of Copenhagen.

Holmlund also joined a consultant for government agencies in addition to his scientific activity in appearance.
