Bertrix is a Belgian municipality located in the province of Luxembourg. It consists of the villages of Bertrix, Auby -sur- Semois Cugnon, JEHONVILLE and Orgeo.

In Bertrix there is a slate museum.

History

On 11 May 1940 the second day of the western campaign Bertrix was taken around 16:00 by troops of the Wehrmacht ( 1st Armored Division ), whose aim was to cross the Meuse at Sedan (which quickly succeeded ). Before French cavalry units were drawn on the retreat by Bertrix. They had given some light tanks of the type Hotchkiss H -39 there ( the H -39 had only a 37- mm gun and could not be dangerous to the German Panzer III and IV). Belgium until the winter of 1944/45, occupied by the Wehrmacht. The Bertrix region was also affected by the Battle of the Bulge ( from 16 December 1944).
