Berwyn is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in Cook County in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, Berwyn had 56 657 inhabitants.

Geography
Berwyn is located in the western suburbs of Chicago at 41 ° 50'33 " north latitude and 87 ° 47'24 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 10.1 km ². The City of Berwyn is congruent with the Berwyn Township.

North of Berwyn runs Interstate 290 as arterial road from Chicago in the west. South of Berwyn leads to Interstate 55 from Chicago to southwest toward St. Louis. The U.S. Highway 34 reaches its eastern terminus at the confluence with the Illinois State Route 43 This road also forms the western border town of Berwyn. All other roads are urban roads.
By Berwyn runs with the BNSF Railway Line, a line of METRA, the mass transit system of Chicago. In the city of Berwyn there with Lavergne, Berwyn and Harlem Avenue three stations of the line that runs from downtown Chicago to Aurora.

History
In 1902, the towns of La Vergne, Swedetown, Berwyn and South Oak Park were merged and incorporated as the Village of Berwyn. In 1908, the municipality status was changed to " City" from the state of Illinois.
