Beslan

Beslan (Russian Беслан, Ossetian Беслӕн, pronunciation? / I ), with 36 728 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) is the third largest city in the belonging to the Russian Federation, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It is the center of the Rajons Prawobereschny (of "right bank ", referring to the situation to the river Terek ) and is located about 15 kilometers north of Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia.

History

The town was founded in 1847 by nomads from Ossetia and was on Ossetian Бесланыхъæу / Beslanychjæu, "settlement of Beslan " ( according to a local nobleman, Beslan Tulatow ) called. In official Russian parlance, the village was known by the surname as Тулатово / Tulatowo or Тулатовское / Tulatowskoje. 1941 place in Иристон / Iriston has been renamed.
