Besnik Mustafaj

Besnik Mustafaj ( born September 23, 1958 in Bajram Curri ) is an Albanian writer and former foreign minister of the country.

Besnik Mustafaj completed after his school days a philological studies and received his PhD in 1982 in the Department of French Language and Literature. From 1983 to 1991 he worked as a teacher and lecturer of foreign literature at the University of Tirana. In addition, he worked as a writer and translator.

In 1990 he was co-founder of the Democratic Party of Albania. He is since 1991 the Albanian Parliament. In the years 1992-1997 Mustafaj represented his country as Ambassador to France and was simultaneously agents authorized representative of Albania to UNESCO. From 2001 to 2005 he headed the permanent delegation of Albania to the European Parliament. From 2005 to 2007 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.

Besnik Mustafaj is the author of several scientific books on poetics and aesthetics. He is married and father of two children.
