Besse is a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Aschaffenburg and is located southeast of the city of Aschaffenburg between the foothills of the Spessart.

Geology

About half of the municipal district of the municipality Bessenbach consists of forest. In this forest grow best beech and oak.

Since 1996, a forest consortium between the market and the communities Hoesbach Besse Bach, Laufach and Sailauf.

Etymology

Besse creek takes its name from the eponymous Besse stream that flows through the municipal area and opens into the Aschaff.

History

The parish was formed on 1 January 1972 by the merger of the municipalities wedge mountain and road Bessenbach. On 1 January 1978, the municipality of Upper Besse Bach was added. Together with the surrounding smaller villages there Bessenbach of twelve parts of the municipality.

Coat of Arms History: The formerly independent communities of Wedge Mountain, road and upper Besse Besse Bach Bach have joined together in 1978 to a total community and the historical name Bessenbach accepted again.
