Best Foot Forward (Musical)

Best Foot Forward is a musical that was produced by George Abbott and premiered under his game management on October 1, 1941 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York. The written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane score is influenced by Barrelhouse, Boogie Woogie and Blues. The book is by John Cecil Holm; dance choreographed Gene Kelly. In the show, a few young talents were seen: June Allyson, Nancy Walker, Stanley Donen, Danny Daniels. Best Foot Forward in 1943 was filmed at Metro -Goldwyn -Mayer, with a slightly different plot. In one of Arthur Whitelaw 1963 co-produced Off- Broadway revival, the seventeen -year-old Liza Minnelli her first professional appearance was in New York. Martin and Blane contributed new songs added for each of these adaptations.

Action

An American college musical. From Jux invites Bud Hooper, a Hollywood star Gale Joy, to join him on the " Winsocki prep school" Prom. Gales agent Jack Haggerty advised to take her to get by such a high-profile appearance the career back in the right fairway. The completely surprised Bud now makes the mistake of his girlfriend Helen Schlesinger to call off under fictitious devices, for this evening. Helen learns of this course and provides at the festival for a scandal that will be available only at the end of Gale Joy in underwear on the floor.
