Beta Scorpii
Akrab (also Acrab, Elacrab - from Arabic العقرب, DMG al - ʿ Aqrab, the ( constellation ) Scorpio ' -; Graffias, Grassias ) is the name of the star β (beta) Scorpii in the constellation Scorpio.
Akrab is a double star system 600 light-years away. The main star is a blue-white star of spectral type B1 with an apparent magnitude of 2.6 m. The 5.1 m bright blue-white companion star is located at an angular distance of 13.6 " at a position angle of 21 degrees from the main star. To resolve the system into single stars, one needs a telescope of at least 5 cm lens opening.
Akrab can ( very rare! ) As ekliptiknaher star from the moon and planets are covered. The last eclipse of Akrab by a planet took place on 13 May 1971 by Jupiter, most recently, on December 9, 1906 by Venus.
