Betheln

Betheln is an entity belonging to Samtgemeinde Gronau municipality in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geography

Betheln located east of Elze, between the natural parks Weser Uplands and resin. It lies on the western flank of the Hildesheim Forest.

To the north edge of the village are the remains of an old ring wall, the Beusterburg.

Community structure

The three districts of the municipality are Betheln, Edding Hausen and house Escherde.

The Church in Betheln

History

1022, the village was first mentioned. The former name of the place was Betenem. In the church a branch of the Augustinian Congregation in Marienrode was notarized on May 22, 1125 by Bishop Berthold. The church, which until then belonged to St. Mauritius Moritzberg (Hildesheim ) was overwritten the Augustinians.

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Edding Hausen and house Escherde were incorporated.

Traffic

Betheln is connected across the north of the municipality extending federal highway 1 to the road network.

Nature reserve " Leineaue under the Rammelsberg "

The nature reserve Leineaue under the Rammelsberg is between Gronau (Leine) and Elze and represents a section of the middle reaches of the leash with their Aue and parts of the slopes of the Great Uthberges and Rammelsberg in the East under protection. The periodically flooded lowlands are dominated by the meandering river with oxbow lakes and flood channels. The line is often accompanied by lowland forest remnants. In addition, are wetlands and perennial rich fallow land to find. The companies included in the conservation area slopes are dominated by forests and bushes as well as remains of nutrient-poor grasslands and orchards.
