Betti Alver
Betti Alver (born 10 Novemberjul / 23 November 1906greg in Jõgeva, .. † 19 June 1989 in Tartu) was an Estonian poet and writer. My official name was Elizabeth Alver, since 1937 and since 1956 Elisabet Elisabet Talvik Lepik.
Life
Betti Alver attended from 1914 to 1917, named after Pushkin girls' school in Tartu in 1924 and placed her high school in Tartu. From 1924 to 1927 she studied Estonian language and literature at the University of Tartu. After graduating she settled as an author in Tartu.
Alvers literary career began with the novella Väne väike. Her first novel Tuulearmuke (1927 ) won shortly after the release of the 2nd prize of a major literary competition. From 1931 she also published poems, which soon offered their great appreciation in the Estonian literary scene. She also translated mainly from the Russian.
From 1934 Betti Alver was a member of the Estonian Writers' Union. End of the 1930s, she coined the literary group Arbujad ( German about shamans ) who felt committed to a neo-classicism with philosophical and ethical poetry.
Betti Alver has received numerous literary awards, including in 1967 and 1987, named after Juhan Liiv Poetry Prize and in 1977, donated by peace Tuglas always Literature Prize.
Betti Alver was married twice, first with the poet Heiti Talvik (1947 died during the Soviet deportations to Siberia), starting from 1956 with Mart Lepik.
Betti Alver died in 1989 in Tartu. In her hometown Jõgeva was the Betti Alveri Muuseum furnished to their memory 2006.

German translations
From Betti Alver has appeared on German not a standalone book, but her poems have been included in various anthologies.
The first major choice (15 poems) published Ants Oras 1964 in his anthology Eight Estonian poet ( Stockholm: publisher Vaba Eesti ). After Soviet literature published in the journal occasionally poem samples (8/ 1972 6/1980, 1/ 1989). 1992 brought Gisbert Jänicke anthology Life is still new (Karlsruhe: INFO publishing company ) eight translated poems, some of which were published again in the journal Estonia (1 /1992).
