Bettina Schmidt ( born June 2, 1960 in Staßfurt ) is no longer active luger.

Bettina Schmidt grew up in a sports-loving family in Eisenach, her father was a successful handball coach. They even tried first as a swimmer and chest putter, but was discovered in 1974 for the luge. The following year she was second in the children 's and young people of the GDR, which they eventually won in 1977.
