Betty Blythe

Betty Blythe (actually Elizabeth Blythe Slaughter, born September 1, 1893 in Los Angeles, California, † April 7, 1972 in Woodland Hills, California ) was an American actress.

Life

Blythe began her career in the theater with plays such as So Long Letty and The Peacock Princess. After guest appearances in Europe and the U.S., she had her entry into the film business in 1918 with Vitagraph in Brooklyn; later she joined Fox film as a replacement for Theda Bara. With more than corresponding concealing costumes she became a star. The thought lost exotic film The Queen of Sheba from 1921 is considered the peak of her film work. She played with Lon Chaney in 1920 Nomads of the North. In the period of the sound film, she embodied only minor roles.

Blythe was married to actor and director Paul Scardon.

She was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
