Betty Nuthall

Betty May Nuthall Shoemaker (* May 23, 1911 in Surbiton, England; † 8 November 1983 in New York, United States) was an English tennis player.

She was the first non-US American, who won the U.S. Championships. Backing it in 1927 as a 16 -year-old still Helen Wills, in 1930 she won the title. In 1931, she won the French championship against Hilde Krahwinkel in the semifinals, before he lost in the finals Cecily Aussem.
