Betzweiler-Wälde

Betzenweiler -Walde was a municipality in Baden-Württemberg district of Freudenstadt, which existed from 1971 to 2006. It consisted of the formerly independent villages of Betzenweiler and Wälde and had on 30 June 2006 1 417 inhabitants. With effect from 1 January 2007, it was incorporated into the municipality Lossburg.

Geographical location

The community was a nationally recognized resort and lay in 536-700 meters altitude in Heimbachtal the Middle Black Forest.

In the midst of the districts is the nature reserve " Heimbachaue ". Many endangered plants and animals have found a protection and habitat. Adjacent to this nature reserve is the "Historical Heimbachmühle ", a handsome half-timbered house, a mill had an important meaning. The "Lower Mill", so is "Historical Heimbachmühle " out of habit still called more often now, first written around the year 1250. In 1978, Klaus Körber acquired the mill and renovated the building completely. Since then, the Heimbachmühle serves as a hotel inn.

Community structure

The former municipality consisted of the districts Betzenweiler and Wälde.

The municipality was negotiating since 2005 to the incorporation into the neighboring community Lossburg. After the municipal councils of both municipalities were in favor of the merger, the citizens in Betzenweiler -Walde in a referendum on 26 March 2006 with 65.5 % of the votes, which are 52.76 % of the voters, for inclusion in the neighboring Lossburg voted. The integration was implemented on 1 January 2007.

Church

In Betzenweiler is one of the few expressionist churches in Germany.

Others

The municipality received the State Award for the unique nature of teaching apiary in Betzenweiler.
