Beuningen

Location and economic

Beuningen is immediately west of the city of Nijmegen, the river Waal. In the west of the municipality, at Ewijk, this river is crossed by a highway bridge. The village Beuningen is a suburb of the eastern neighbor Nijmegen. In other places there is a lot of agriculture and some industries ( brickworks, where bricks and roof tiles made ​​).

History

The terrain where Beuningen is now was possibly inhabited by the Romans. Beuningen was how Ewijk and Winssen, until 1900 often from river floods ravaged, impoverished farming village. From 1900 to 1970 here a nunnery was located, which alleviated the poverty something. After 1928 the situation improved by the construction of better roads.
