Culture and sights

Beykoz is one of the last green lungs of İstanbul. In no other district of İstanbul there are so many forest areas and villas. Some of the attractions in Beykoz are the Egyptian Tower ( Hidiv Kasrı ) by Abbas II, the Ottoman summer palace Kucuk Su Kasrı, the ancient fortress located in Anadolu Hisarı and Vehbi - Koç Nature Park.

Outside Beykoz on the road to the seaside resort of Riva is one of the curiosities of Istanbul, Polonezköy (Polish Adampol ), the Polish village. It was founded after the Crimean War of Polish, Czech and Czech soldiers who decided not to return to their homeland. They built their village by indigenous species with half-timbered houses and walled gardens, in which they planted familiar fruit trees and shrubs. The inhabitants cherished to this day their language and deliver to the people living in İstanbul non-Muslims with pork, which is otherwise difficult to obtain. Polonezköy has become a popular destination, but with the influx of visitors is the erstwhile idyll lost slowly. Today, even a small number Bosphorus German lives there.

The road from the center of Istanbul to the north is bordered by a series YALIS that have been painstakingly restored. In Anadolu Hisarı is the first Ottoman fortress, which was to serve the conquest of Byzantium. It was built in 1395 by Sultan Bayezid I.. The fort is well preserved.

In Beykoz is currently under construction, the German - Turkish University.
