Bhagabhadra

Bhagabhadra was an Indian king of the Shunga dynasty, which ruled from about 185 BC to 73 BC in the north of the Indian subcontinent. Bhagabhadra appears as Bhagavata or Bhaga in the Puranas as the ninth ruler of the Shunga dynasty.

Outside the Puranas it is known from the Pillar of Heliodorus, the Heliodorus, an envoy of the Indo- Greek king Antialkidas, was built. The inscription on the pillar testifies to the 14th year of the reign of Bhagavata. Another pillar calls his 12th year of reign. According to the Puranas, he is said to have reigned 32 years.
