Biathlon European Championships 2009

The 16th Biathlon World Championships 2009 were held in four competitions for men and women in Ufa from February 28 to May 4. It was the first at the Open Championship, which also include non-Europeans were admitted, an age restriction, which was 26 years. The opportunity to participate as non-European nation, but perceived only Canada and Uzbekistan. During the European Championships in Eastern Europe had a high priority, especially the strong countries such as Norway, Germany, Russia, France, Austria and Sweden sent the nations of Western Europe, the second team. Several countries, such as Italy, Sweden, Romania and Hungary, had dispensed with entirely of the posting of athletes. The 2008/09 season brought the World Cup in Europe and North America, the World Cup in South Korea, the European Championships in Siberia and the World Youth Championship in Canada burdens on associations with it that could no longer support many.

Date: Saturday 28 February, 2009 It started 30 of 31 athletes reported. Not at the start was the Austrian Iris Waldhuber.

10 km pursuit

Date: Sunday, March 1st, 2009 It started 29 of 30 start legitimate athletes. Not at the start was the Ukrainian Ljudmyla Pyssarenko.

Single 15 km

Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009 It started 28 athletes.

Season 4 x 6 km

Date: Wednesday, March 4, 2009 It started seven seasons.

Sprint 10 km

Date: Saturday 28 February, 2009 It started 54 of 55 athletes reported. Not at the start was the White Russian Jauhen Schuleu. Two of the starters do not finish the race.

Persecution 12.5 km

Date: Sunday, March 1st, 2009 It started 48 of 52 start legitimate athletes. Not at the start went Latvian Edgars Piksons, the Austrians Julian Eberhard, Australian Alexei Almoukov and the Uzbek Murod Hodjibayev. Two of the starters do not finish the race.

Single 20 km

Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009 It started 53 of 54 athletes reported. Not at the start of the sprint was European Champion Rune Bratsveen from Norway. Two of the starters do not finish the race.

Season 4 x 7.5 km

Date: Wednesday, March 4, 2009 It started 12 squadrons, one did not reach the target.

Biathlon Junior European Championships

The Biathlon Junior European Championships 2009 was held from February 28 to May 4 four competitions for men and women in Ufa as a substructure for EVC.
