Biathlon World Championships 1999

The 34th Biathlon World Championships should be scheduled to take place from the 5th to the 14th of February 1999, Finnish Kontiolahti.

In the competition program, there were two changes: For the first time world champions were determined in the mass start, however, the team competition was no longer in the program.

Because of persistent severe cold and temperatures down to -25 ° C had planned as a prelude race sprint races are a total of six times and finally moved took place only on 12 February 1999. The Pursuit and Relay race could still be played on the following two days in Kontiolahti.
