Biathlon World Championships 2008

The 42 Biathlon World Championships were held until 17 February 2008 at Östersund, Sweden on 8.

The following list indicates how many athletes can report the maximum listed nations for the title fights. However, Open to a maximum of four participants per nation and race. The defending champion from Sprint, individual and mass start will receive a personal right to start in the respective disciplines and therefore do not fall under the respective national quota.

The German squadron was traded as the favorite before the race before the Russians. The Germans went as defending champions and unbeaten for more than twelve months in the same composition as in last year's victory at the start. In the first round, the Italians were able to keep up with the Germans, but they fell back after the second change and the race has already been decided between the first and second change.
