Biberach (district)

The district is a district Biberach in Baden- Württemberg. Geography

The district of Biberach located in Upper Swabia. The western tip goes even down to the Swabian Alb. The Iller forms a natural border with Bavaria.

History

The district of Biberach goes back to the same Württemberg upper office, which was built after the transition of the former free imperial city of Biberach and their surrounding areas to Württemberg in 1806. Furthermore, had the upper offices Ehingen Riedlingen Saulgau, Waldsee, Leutkirch and Zwiefalten share of today's district area.

From 1810 on the upper offices were among the administrative territories of the Danube and Lake Constance and from 1818 Donaukreis. District

The District Administrator is elected by the council for a term of eight years. To the district of Biberach belonged from 1938 first 87 municipalities, including four cities.
