Bibern, Schaffhausen

Beavers (SH ) is a former municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. As of January 1, 2009, beavers joined together with other municipalities in the community Reiat Thayngen. Through the town flows the river beaver, which opens below of Stein am Rhein in the High Rhine.

Coat of arms

Blazon: On a yellow background, the black, gnawing on a brown piece of branch, seated beaver.

Like almost all towns in the Reiat also owned beavers before 1800 no own coat of arms. The first is found in 1814 on a seal of the localities beavers and Mayrhofen, who formed a political community at that time. The seal is an upstanding plowshares as a symbol for farming dar. With the separation of communities in 1860, beavers created a new label image with the beaver. Meanwhile, the gnawing beaver was pictured next to a body of water. Since this is not corresponded to the heraldry, coat of arms was adjusted, and the water removed.
