Geography

Course

The beaver begins its course at about 488 m above sea level. NHN on the edge of the road L 1046 oriented from the central Waldenburg in the suburb of Upper Steinbach at Streithof in a more shallow, to the southeast trough. The top stream section does not always water, this is only after the inlet of the effluent from the Burgvogtsee in the southern forest Gewanns Burger beat the case. Then she bends at brick hut to the south.

Your direction is all over the further course of almost imperceptibly east until it is about re- southeast flow at the mouth. After strong 2 km it reaches the 5-hectare Neumühlsee, in the Goldbach has a further influx from the left. Nearly 6 km below the source it passes through the 10 -acre Sailach Reservoir, then the place Gnadental ( about 7 km), the first major settlement in the valley. It is steadily wider here until after Michel field where the beaver is crossed by the B 14 (approx. 12 km). From here on the floodplain is narrow, the forest recedes from the valley slopes, the beaver is now flowing in a partially sunken 30 meters, narrow trough in the vast agricultural hills of the rose garden. She passes beaver field (ca. 14 km), vineyards (about 17 km) and the brick mill, where flowing into it with the 4.7 km long Dendelbach still the longest tributary of the right, and leads eventually to the south west home after a distance of about 21 km at an altitude of 308 m above sea level. NHN into the cooker.

Catchment area

The 63.3 km ² catchment area is asymmetrical. While the upper reaches of the near Ohrn with their tributary streams competes right, it is on the lower reaches of the left side near and deeper boiler, both competitors are Rhine -oriented. To the right of the beaver's many small tributaries have the Escarpment very forced back to the room sandstone in the lower reaches. In the balance, a catchment area towards the right side results in a length of 17 km (origin - mouth ) with a maximum width of 5 km.

Geology

The origin of the beaver is on the pebbly sandstone plateau of the northern Waldburger mountains. Then you will soon run into the Lower Colorful marls and occurs slightly before the Neumühlsee into the Schilfsandstein. Even little below to include Michel box it runs in Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ) before the inlet of the creek Baier flood plain is flat and wide, filled with Auensediment. Until the influx of Wolfring Bach between Bibersfeld and vineyards of Lettenkeuper follows. The Talstück from there to the inlet of the Dendelbachs is located in the Upper Muschelkalk. The remaining part of the valley, especially in the broad flood plain of the digester is filled again far with Auensediment and may occur after the layer sequence partially lie in Lettenkeuper because crossing the Neckar -Jagst furrow lie by the Kochertal here the layers locally deeper.
