Geography

Unterbichl lies in the region Oberland. There is only the district Unterbichl.

History

1048, the village was first mentioned. The name Unterbichl refers to the hill ( bavarian: Bühel, see Kitzbühel and many other place names in the Bavarian language area ) on which the village church of St. George (built 1751-1753 by Johann Michael Fischer). Unterbichl was the official residence and belonged to the monastery Benediktbeuren in the Electorate of Bavaria. The former imperial pin Benediktbeuren acquired in 1790 once the blood spell so that his possessions were part of a rule. 1803 reached the final place in the course of the secularization of Bavaria.
