Bichlbach

Bichlbach is a municipality with 764 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Reutte, Tyrol ( Austria ). It belongs to the judicial district of Reutte.

Geography

Bichlbach situated on 1079 m above sea level. A. in the intermediate gates, the valley that connects the Ehrwalder pool with the Lech Valley. In the municipality the watershed between Lech and Loisach runs. The community consists of three villages, the long-drawn street Dorfbichl Bach ( 1079 m above sea level. A., 550 inhabitants) and the two villages lying close together Lähn (1112 m above sea level. A., 225 inhabitants) and Wengle ( 1083 m above sea level. A. , 76 inhabitants; inhabitants as of each 15 May 2001).

History

The settlement was carried out from the Allgäu. The first mention of the place in 1300 was as Puechelpach, which means as much as " Book of umstandener Bach". In Bichlbach mining was carried out as in Biberwier. It lead and Galmeierze were dismantled. The village Mittenwald was destroyed by an avalanche in 1456 and rebuilt elsewhere as Lähn ( = " avalanche "). This place was also destroyed by an avalanche in 1689. Lähn formed until 1816 the diocese border between Augsburg and Brixen.

Until 1859 Bichlbach seat was a mason and carpenters ' guild, the Great Guild Bichlbach. Members was another of the architect Joseph Michael Schnöller. The guild church of Bichlbach in its baroque style is now preserved as only one of its kind in Germany.

Blazon: In red, a black, double-headed eagle, from a silver stake is, in a left -looking, black -robed figure of St Joseph, a silver carpenter holding triangle.

The coat of arms granted in 1974 is modeled after the guild seal from 1694 and shows the St. Joseph as the patron of craftsmen against a black double-headed eagle. The colors of the flag are black community - Red

Economy and infrastructure

Bichlbach is currently investigating a two seasonal tourism community with a focus on winter tourism (through the location at the entrance to Berwang ). The municipality is located on the Fern Pass road and is connected via the Außerfernbahn on the railway network.

Bichlbach is the birthplace and home of American newspaper publisher Alois Zotz.

The world champion in giant slalom ski Nicole Hosp is a citizen of the community.
