Bidirectional texture function

A BTF ( Bidirectional texturing function, bidirectional Texturierungsfunktion ) is in computer graphics, a distribution function, which refers to the descriptions of surfaces ( " textures " ) that capture not only the reflection characteristics at a certain point, but the lighting and viewpoint- dependent behavior of the entire surface of the structure contain. It represents an extension of the bidirectional reflectance distribution function ( BRDF ) dar. In contrast to the textures on two-dimensional " decals " based is a high degree of realism achieved under varying illuminations.
