Bidvest Wits F.C.

The Bidvest Wits Football Club, often abbreviated as Bidvest Wits is a South African football club based in Johannesburg. The club, which is closely linked to the Witwatersrand University, was called to the acquisition by a sponsor Wits University Football Club.

History

Founded in 1921 students from Witwatersrand University in the club. First, the team played mainly to friendly competitions, and later took on unterklassigen football in South Africa in part. In 1975, the club rose the first time in its credentials, as he qualified for the National Football League. There he established himself at once in the head and took a third and fifth place in the table. After the season 1977, the League broke apart and Wits University joined the National Premier Soccer League.

1978 Wits University won the first title of the club's history, as in the final of the National Cup Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 were defeated. The crew of the Wits University qualified in 1985 for the newly formed National Soccer League, in which they established themselves in the middle table space.
