Origin of the name

The name Bieleboh has ancestrally similarities to the neighboring mountain Czorneboh on. The latter probably from the Sorbian corny term BOH (Black God ) infers, the Biele stands for white. However, the names do not come in all probability from the Sorbian mythology, but only appeared in the early modern period. The old name " High Forest " ( 1746 ) gave the name " Belbog " (1804 ). The name Kaspers mountain that took place in Beiersdorf respect to an owner of the mountain forest, a peasant landowner and Fuhrmann, disappeared. 1936, the mountain has now been renamed by the Nazis in Huhberg.

History

After 1830 shooting festivals were held at the mountains from Kretschamwirt of Beiersdorf. The Mountain Club Upper Spreetal Neusalza was founded in 1882 and began a legacy on the mountain to build, since it was already an obelisk, but this was soon discarded and planned an observation tower.

In 1882 the construction of the 12 meter high observation tower. It was finished in 1883 and inaugurated on May 6.

On 2 July 1910, the tower was destroyed by lightning, but he was completely gutted. The Bieleboh Club as a legal entity collected donations from the public and the country club Saxon Homeland Security designed the new design, which was higher by 3 meters and a cupola had. The subsequent reconstruction was done already on 25 September of the same year and it was a solemn consecration. 1994 had to be closed due to disrepair of the observation tower. 1997 began the renovation of the observation tower, which was increased to 18 m in order to achieve a better view over the treetops.
