Beer nails are conical, hemispherical or pyramidal fittings on the outer covers of books that are used on student pubs or bouts. Primarily, it involves songbooks, the so-called Kommers books; but also guestbooks are sometimes provided with beer nails.

These books are for the pub is usually on the table Kneip and are thus exposed to the risk of coming into contact with spilled beer and thereby damaged. By beer nails the book cover to be raised half a centimeter from the table and remain mostly dry.
