Biersdorf am See

Beer lakeside village is a municipality and nationally recognized resort at the lake Bitburg in the Eifel and is located in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geographical location

The place is located in the South Eifel Nature Park, north west of the county town of Bitburg Bitburg at the reservoir, which is located in the west of the church. The 3.22 km ² large municipality extends to a height of 280-340 m above sea level. NN. It is used for agriculture to 63.5 %, with 13.9%, a comparatively small part of the forest has been passed.

History

How much of the Bitburger country was inhabited by the lake in pre-Christian times, after which tumuli and pottery finds indicate even beer village. The first documentary mention as " Bersdorf " dates from the year 1301. Already from 1330 can prove a parish church. In 1500, six households were counted. As its own sub- rule with Wiersdorf it was in the Luxembourg provost Bitburg, which was sold in 1672 to the Baron von der Horst. 1800 was the seat of a French beer village Mairie, which was replaced in 1816 by a Prussian mayoralty. At this time, the place consisted of 18 houses and 142 inhabitants. The Biersdorfer mayor went in 1856 in the mayoralty Bickendorf over.

Since the local government reform in 1970, the community belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land. The suffix " at the lake" carries the community since 6 March 1995.

The local council in beer lakeside village consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman. :

Economy and infrastructure

Beer lakeside village is an agricultural and touristy church today. Several hotels, inns and guesthouses are available mainly due to the location at the Bitburg reservoir. Furthermore, it is used a large part of the municipality of five main and four part-time farmers.

The nearest motorway junction is Bitburg on the A 60 and is about 4 km away.
