Bierstedt is a town in the tube mountain in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Bierstedt is located approximately 17 kilometers southwest of the county town of Salzwedel and two kilometers west of the state road 248

Nearest places are Mehmke ( west ), and Püggen Beetzendorf ( east ), Pipe Mountain (southeast ) and Kuhfelde ( north ).

Near the village is the large stone grave Bierstedt.

Structure

For the former municipality Bierstedt belonged to the district of Klein Bierstedt.

History

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Ahlum decided ( 6 May 2008 ), Bierstedt ( 14 May 2008 ) and pipe Berg ( 23 April 2008 ) that their communities are dissolved and merged into a new community named pipe Mountain. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2009.
