Big Mama is an American documentary from the year 2000.

Action

Viola Dees is an elderly and ailing woman who supplied her grandson Walter. The orphaned boy is a problem child, rebellious and destructive. No one else in the family is able to provide Walter and educate. The situation, underestimated by the authorities comes to a head more and more. With their 90 years Viola is found to be too old. She suffers a heart attack when Walter plays with fire and burns down the house. The authorities separate the two and put through that the boy is housed in a special facility.

Background

Viola Dees was at the time of the making of the film 90 years old. She died at age 91. This footage was the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services provided, the sighted making eleven hours long document.
