Bigode

Bigode, actually João Ferreira, João also Bigode or João Ferreira Bigode, ( born April 4, 1922 in Belo Horizonte, † July 31, 2003 ) was a Brazilian footballer. He was defender.

Life and career

Bigode started his professional career in 1940 at 7 Septembro - FC. He then played at Atletico Mineiro, with whom he won the Campeonato Mineiro 1942 and 1943. From 1943 to 1949 he played for Fluminense Rio de Janeiro and then one year at CR Flamengo.

In the Brazilian national team played Bigode in the years 1949 and 1950 ten games. He won the Copa America with Brazil in 1949 and participated in the World Cup 1950 in part in their own country.

In this World Cup, there was between Brazil and Uruguay to the decisive match for the title, which is later than " Maracanaço " was known: the overwhelming favorites Brazil lost entirely surprising against the underdog Uruguay 1-2.
