Bik'at HaYarden Regional Council

Bik'at Hajarden (Hebrew מועצה אזורית בקעת הירדן, Mo'atza Azorit Bik'at HaYarden ) is an Israeli regional government west of the Jordan in the Jordan Valley. The seat of government is in Schlomtzion, south of Planusartu.

Location

Bik'at Hajarden located in the northeastern West Bank, just west of the Jordan River. The area of Bik'at Hajarden ranges from Beit She'an in the north to Jericho in the south. Most settlements are located on the two major north-south running streets, the Allon Road, named after Yigal Allon, the west and Highway 90 to the east.

Maale Efraim is indeed surrounded by the territory of the regional administration, but forms an independent local government.

History

Israel occupied in the Six Day War of 1967, the territory of today's regional administration. Most of the Israeli settlements were founded in the years 1968-1982. 1979, a separate administrative unit was set up for them.
