Bile#Bile soap

Gall soap is a soap product of hard soap and ox bile. It is available as solid or liquid end product and an old home remedy for treating stains in textiles.

The washing effect of bovine bile based on the emulsifying properties of the salts contained therein of bile acids, for example, glycocholic acid, and taurocholic acid. Detersive enzymes are virtually absent in the bile. Gall soap is effective against many types of stains, but especially against fat, starch, blood, fruit and protein stains. To remove dirt and the affected area is wetted, rubbed with a piece of ox-gall soap vigorously and then leached or washed as usual in the washing machine without first washing.
