Bilge keel

Bilge keels are firmly welded to both sides of a ship flat steel profiles to dampen the rolling motion of the ship about its longitudinal axis. Usually a vertical welded on to the hull Holland profile is used as a bilge keel. The bilge keels are placed in the position of the horizon, ie the transition of the ship's bottom in the side walls. They run mostly in the area of ​​parallel central aisle, so to the greatest width of the hull.
