Bilina, Croatia

Bilina is a historical late medieval village in the region Bukovica, west of the town of Knin, southern Croatia.

The place was known as the seat of the noble family Draskovic in the 15th century and the early 16th century. In a Castle there lived Bartol Draskovic, later founders of the aristocratic branch of his family, with his family. There was on February 5, 1525 his first son Juraj ( German Georg ), who later became famous Croatian statesman, Bishop and Cardinal, was born. There were probably two younger sons Bartol, Gašpar ( Kaspar ) and Ivan I. (Johann ) was born. A little later, because of the growing Ottoman threat, the whole family moved to the northwest of Croatia.

A short time later conquered by the Ottomans storming the whole area around Bilina, or North Dalmatia, and the Draskovic of Bilina are later become Draskovic Trakošćan.
