Bill Clement

William H. Clement ( born December 20, 1950 in Buckingham, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and is currently active as a commentator for the games of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.

Playing career

Bill Clement began his career in 1967 in the Canadian Junior Football League OHA, where he played 67 's for Ottawa. For three years he presented itself as a solid defensive forward and was eventually selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round at position 18 in the NHL Amateur Draft 1970. He spent the next eighteen years with the Quebec Aces and the Richmond Robins in the subprime AHL before he was appointed during the 1971/72 season in the NHL squad the Flyers.

The Flyers Clement was able to establish with his defensive game and won with them in 1974 and 1975 the Stanley Cup. After the second win of the championship, he was transferred to the Washington Capitals, the same named him team captain. However, he did not stay long in Washington, because he was sent in January 1976 in a transfer business to the Atlanta Flames. In Atlanta, he had 1977/78 his personal best season when he scored 50 points in 70 games. 1980 the franchise moved to Calgary and became the independent Calgary Flames. Clement played two more seasons in Calgary before 1982, he ended his career.

Television career

After the end of his active career, Bill Clement 1986 analyst for NHL games with the TV channel ESPN, before 1988 the television crew of the Philadelphia Flyers joined and served there as a co-commentator of their games. In 1992 he returned to ESPN back and commented on and analyzed for the transmitter, the NHL games. In addition to his work in the NHL, Clement was an expert on the NBC television network in the Olympic Hockey Tournament in 2002 and active as a commentator at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in the sports of table tennis, modern pentathlon and badminton.

In 2005 he left ESPN and was responsible for the following two years moderator of the studio reporting for national broadcasts in the U.S., the NBC and Versus, where he worked together with experts, such as Mark Messier, Ed Olczyk, Ray Ferraro and Brett Hull. In the fall of 2007, he rejoined his former team, the Philadelphia Flyers, as an analyst of their games.

Incidentally, Bill Clement has also worked as a presenter on a radio show to the Philadelphia Flyers.
