Bill Conti

William E. "Bill" Conti ( born April 13, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is an American film composer. His best-known composition is the title theme of the Rocky film series.

Biography

Bill Conti's musical career began at the age of 15 years as a conductor in a local orchestra. In the 60s he was first employed as a film music composer in Italy for films such as A Candidate For A Killing. With the fantastic jazzy soundtrack to the Italo - Movie Juliette de Sade ( Mademoiselle De Sade ) of 1968, he joins the honorable league of Italo 60s/70s jazz and film composers such as Piero Umiliani (Lady Magnolia, Today's Sound) Alberto Baldan Bembo (The Smart Set), Piero Piccioni or ( Camille 2000, the soundtrack to a modern literary adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel ), which later became known by the iconic Easy tempo Sampler at a wide audience. It was followed by several TV and movie productions until he finally 1976, the soundtrack for the United Artists production composed Rocky starring Sylvester Stallone, a film which was a huge success. In 1981 he composed the soundtrack for the twelfth James Bond Adventure For Your Eyes Only, as master composer John Barry had canceled his participation. With the title song For Your Eyes Only, sung by Sheena Easton, he also managed to great commercial success. Other well-known works by Conti are the music for the Karate Kid series, and for the film The stuff heroes are. He also composed the score to the first two seasons of North and South, as well as for the prison and friendship drama Blood In, Blood Out -. Conspired to life and death in 1993 Conti is still a busy film composer, recently he was responsible for the final film in the Rocky series, Rocky Balboa, works for which he did not write a new note. In fact, there are only the old pieces that were simply used for the recent Rocky movie.

Bill Conti is a versatile film composer who mixes traditional orchestral compositions with modern influences, but also jazz compositions as the soundtrack to Juliette de Sade wrote. For James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, he wrote a soundtrack with numerous pop elements. In the 80s, he composed music for many popular television series including Dynasty, The Colbys, Falcon Crest, North and South, and Cagney and Lacey.

Awards

Bill Conti was nominated for his original score for the film Rocky, among others for a Grammy, a Golden Globe and an Oscar. For his work as musical director for various Oscars he was nominated ten times for an Emmy, he has won this award three times now. Bill Conti has also been honored on the Walk of Fame with an asterisk.
