Bill Foster (politician)

George William " Bill" Foster ( born October 7, 1955 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American politician. Between 2008 and 2011 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since 2013 he exercises this mandate again.

Career

Bill Foster studied until 1975 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. This was followed up in 1984 to study physics at Harvard University. He then worked as a physicist and entrepreneur. He was also a board member of the Batavia Foundation for Education Excellence. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

Following the resignation of Congressman Dennis Hastert, the former Speaker, Foster was at the due election for the 14th seat from Illinois as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on March 8, 2008. After a re-election, he could remain until January 3, 2011 at the Congress. In 2010, he was not confirmed: he was defeated by Republican Randy Hultgren. Foster was a member of the Committee on Finance Committee in the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in four sub-committees. In the congressional elections of 2012 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives again in the eleventh electoral district of his state, where he became the successor of Adam Kinzinger on January 3, 2013, who moved into the 16th district. This time Foster won the election against Judy Biggert. He is again a member of the Finance Committee.

Bill Foster is married and has two adult children. Privately, he lives in Naperville.
