Bill Gross

William (Bill ) Hunt Gross ( born April 13, 1944) is an American fund manager and founder of Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC ( PIMCO ).

Life

Bill Gross studied psychology at Duke University in Durham (North Carolina ), which he left in 1966 with a Bachelor degree. After military service in the Navy in 1971, he acquired the academic degree of MBA from the University of California Los Angeles ( UCLA). His studies he financed as a professional blackjack player in Las Vegas.

In 1971, he founded Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC ( PIMCO ). He manages the PIMCO Total Return Fund, which is a volume of 236 billion U.S. dollars of the world's largest bond fund and fifth largest total fund. In November 1999, PIMCO was sold for 3.3 billion U.S. dollars of Allianz Global Investors. With a private fortune of 2.1 billion U.S. dollars Bill Gross took place in March 2011, 564 of the Forbes list of the richest people in the world.
