Life
Career
Bill Hunter began his career as a film and theater actor at the age of 17 years. His appearances on Australian television from the early 1960s made the character actor popular. His filmography includes a plurality of television films and television series, in which he participated. In German-speaking Hunter was known for his appearances in the 1992 dance film Strictly Ballroom - The dance against all the rules and 1994 in the comedies Muriel's Wedding and Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. In 2003, he lent in the original English version of the animated film Finding Nemo the dentist his voice.
In his native Australia Hunter is an actor legend, because he worked in the more than four decades of his career with any well-known Australian director. The artist Jason Benjamin won the 2005 with a portrait of Hunter the Archibald Prize in the category "Packing Room Prize".
Private
Hunter was married from 1993 until his divorce in 1999 with the actress Rhonda Roberts. He died at the age of 71 at a hospice in Melbourne from the effects of cancer.
