Bill Irwin

Bill Irwin ( born April 11, 1950 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actor.

Life

Bill Irwin is the oldest of three children. He studied at Oberlin College in Ohio and the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College in Florida. In 1980, he began his film career with an appearance in Popeye - The sailor with the hard blow after it has already been working as a clown and theater actor. Three years later he wrote his first and last Screenplay: The Regard of Flight, a TV movie.

From 1977 to 1982 he was married to Kimi Okada. Since 1990 he is in a relationship with Martha Roth; together they have a child.

Awards

With a MacArthur Fellowship Irwin was awarded in 1984. In 1989 he was awarded a Tony Award for Best Choreography, together with Kimi Okada. As best actor in the play Who 's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? In 2005 he was again honored with the Tony Award. 2008 Irwin was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Rachel Getting Married for an award of the Chicago Film Critics Association.
