Bill Scanlon

Bill Scanlon ( born November 13, 1956 in Dallas, Texas ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Career

Bill Scanlon was considered by experts at an early stage as a great tennis talent. In 1976, he started his professional career. Especially on hard courts he could assert themselves, while slower surfaces, such as sand, his game had not met. In 1977, he stood in five finals of the ATP Tour. In two single- finals he was defeated, as well as in two of the achieved double finals. Scanlon's first final victory was a victory in the doubles tournament in Brisbane, Australia, on grass. Together with Vitas Gerulaitis he beat the Australian double time Anderson / Ken Rosewall 7-6, 6-4.

1978 Scanlon won his first individual tournament when he won with a smooth 6-2, 6-0 over his compatriot Peter Fleming in Maui.
