Bill Scherr

William Harold "Bill" Scherr ( born July 27, 1961 in Eureka, South Dakota ) is a former American professional wrestler and coach.

Career

Bill Scherr is from South Dakota. He started at the Mobridge High School along with his twin brother James Scherr with the rings. In addition, he was active at a young age with American football, athletics and rodeo. After the first major successes in the struggle but he concentrated on the sport. In 1980 he was U.S. junior champion at middleweight, free style. Since 1982, he attended the Nebraska State University where he continued his success in wrestling in higher education. From 1985, he started regularly in the Ringer world championships and represented the U.S. along with his twin brother Jim also at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.

His debut at the World Cup he gave in 1985 in Budapest. He surprised was the international Ringer world, because he won the world title in the light heavyweight division. In the final he defeated while Roland Dudziak from the GDR.

In 1986 he started a weight class higher in the heavyweight division. He stood at the World Cup this year in Budapest again in the final, but lost this time to the strong Soviet athletes Arslan Hadartzew just on points.

Starting in 1987, Bill started for the Saunksit Kids and won again at the World Championships in Clermont- Ferrand a medal. He was defeated in the semifinals Leri Chabelow from the USSR and won the battle for the bronze medal against Julius Strnisko from Czechoslovakia.

In 1988 Bill also won an Olympic medal. In the battle for the bronze medal defeating Uwe Neupert from the GDR on points.

Bill Scherr was during his time as an active wrestler coach at Indiana University. Later he took over the U.S. women's team as a responsible coach.
