Bill Walsh (producer)

Bill Walsh ( born September 30, 1913 in New York City; † January 27, 1975 in Los Angeles, actually William Crozier Walsh) was an American film producer, screenwriter, and comic book writer who worked from 1943 until his death of Walt Disney. In 1965 he received for the film Mary Poppins into two categories an Oscar nomination.

Life

Walsh was born the son of a Canadian and an Irish girl in New York, he spent his youth with relatives in Cincinnati, where he also attended the university. In the 1930s and 40s he worked for a PR agency and later became its associates. Here he met the actor and ventriloquist Edgar Bergen know and worked for him as an author. In 1943 he started at the Disney Studios, at the same time in the PR department and as a comic writer for the comic strips by Floyd Gottfredson. In the years 1950/1951 Walsh began on behalf of Walt Disney with producing programs for television. It first emerged cartoon productions, from 1955 he turned to real films.

Bill Walsh was involved in a large number of popular and successful Disney movies, the biggest successes include the films to the VW Beetle Herbie. Less than a year after the second film with Herbie was released in theaters, Walsh died at the age of 61 of a heart attack.
