Billy Boyd (actor)

Billy Boyd ( born August 28, 1968 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish film and stage actor.

Life

William ( Billy ) Boyd was born in Glasgow in 1968. His parents died when he was very young and he grew up with his sister Margaret with his grandmother on. Prior to his training as an actor, he worked for several years as a bookbinder. His education, graduating with a Diploma of Dramatic Arts, he graduated from the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, where among other things, Alan Cumming and James McAvoy were studying.

He was in a 1996 episode of the Scottish TV series Taggart his first television appearance. After that, he was still seen in some TV productions and played numerous stage roles, especially at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, including Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing and Zola's Thérèse Raquin. Known He achieved international fame in 2001 for his role as the hobbit Pippin in Peter Jackson's film adaptation of Lord of the Rings trilogy.
